About Us

We are a user-led membership organisation and work across Scotland to remove barriers to the full social inclusion of people affected by disability. Membership is open to all disability organisations and to those which share our aims. It is also open to people with any kind of impairment, whether physical, mental, hidden or visible.

Annual General Meeting 2015

Our Annual General Meeting will be held on the 24 September 2015 at the Beardmore Hotel, Clydebank, Glasgow, 11am-3.30pm.

We believe

• People with disabilities should control the decisions that affect their lives.
• Decision takers should hears and heed their views at the earliest stage.
• People with disabilities should receive the support and services they require to live independently.
• Full social inclusion means access to the same opportunities as those enjoyed by others, including to: health, education, employment and leisure and recreation.
• We should work constructively with others to bring this about.

What we do

Our work is guided by the concerns of our members.

We aim to:

• Consult thoroughly on any developments which affect their well-being.
• Make sure law makers and other decision takers are aware of the views we receive.
• Work to influence new laws and monitor existing ones, to be sure that they operate as they should.
• Work positively with governments, local authorities, health boards and other agencies.
• Communicate effectively through our website, newsletters, meetings, briefings, events, focus groups, emails and letters.

Access Panels

We are the umbrella body for Access Panels in Scotland. Panels are groups of volunteers who work together to improve physical access and wider social inclusion in their local communities. We offer support and training opportunities to help them operate efficiently, link together as a network and learn from each other.
