24/11/05 - NHS Wheelchair and Special Seating Services in ScotlandMembers may recall the Petition to the Scottish Parliament in December 2004 that focused on the delivery of the NHS Wheelchair Service in Scotland, which we supported along with concerned parents, carers and staff of the Service. Following the hearing of that Petition the Minster for Health and Community Care, Andy Kerr, funded an independent review of the Service which was to report to him by 31st March 2006.SDEF’s Convenor Ron Skinner is ReTSAG’s National Wheelchair Forum representative on the Wheelchair Steering Group and Core Advisory Group which were set up to oversee the Review. Over the last few months the independent consultants, Frontline, have been gathering information about the Wheelchair Service. The findings from five sub-regional meetings of users and the national wheelchair conference held in Edinburgh have been included in the draft Report and Consultation Paper which is available at the following website address www.nhshealthquality.org/nhsqis or is available in hard copy available from Doreen Pedlar at the address below.Consultation Paper and Response Form
