O

fcom - the communications regulator - has asked MORI to conduct research with people who have hearing or visual impairments. This will focus on their TV usage and needs (in particular are they satisfied with current provision of access services such as subtitling, audio description and signing.) Research findings will help shape the future provision of access services, hopefully to better align them with user needs.

MORI would like your help with this important study, or direct them to someone within your organisation who may be able to help.

In short:

  • They are conducting 600 interviews in total, 20 of which will be in your area

  • Their aim is to visit a selection of associations, community groups or clubs for people with either a vision or hearing impairment, in order to conduct interviews with members on site

  • They have designed a short questionnaire and use highly experienced interviewers so would keep any disruption or inconvenience on the day to a minimum

  • Where needed they can organise a communicator to accompany the interviewer to allow the questionnaire to be translated into BSL for deaf respondents. They shall also provide the questionnaire in an accessible format for those who are visually impaired.

  • Interviews can take place either separately on a one on one basis or in a group session as appropriate.

They are aiming to conduct the interviews in December.  They would appreciate if anyone wishing to take part in the survey could get in touch on the email address below to allow interviewers to contact you to arrange a date for the interview.
