To protect and enhance the work of Access Panels
Objectives
For the directors elected by Access Panels to set
the standards, priorities and activities of the umbrella body

To offer support and information to Access Panels to
promote action to make Scotland, its institutions and services more
accessible to people with disabilities, in accordance with 2004
legislative requirements

To ensure a balance between the input of
professionals and users of service in the area of work covered by Access
Panels

To develop the reputation of Access Panels as
professionally-run, sustainable centres of excellence in the field of
access to the environment and to communication

Objective
To establish, or assist in establishing, mechanisms
to improve two-way communications among Access Panels in Scotland and
improve information flow between Access Panels and others
Aim 3
To influence the development of policy and legislation
Objective
To establish, or assist in establishing, mechanisms
to improve two-way communications between people with disabilities and
policy-makers, thus promoting the views of Access Panels at local level and
other stakeholders within SDEF and enabling policymaking to be better
informed
