Scottish Social Housing Charter

We would appreciate your views on the following consultation of the draft Scottish Social Housing Charter. The Charter is part of the arrangements for improving the quality of services that social landlords provide. It aims to address issues or services that matter to tenants, homeless people or other customers of social landlords.

The initial consultation and discussion paper has received considerable input from stakeholders, and this formal consultation will benefit greatly from your views and comments.

What is the Scottish Social Housing Charter?
The Scottish Social Housing Charter contains a number of ‘outcomes’ which set out a landlord’s responsibilities and a tenant’s rights.  These outcomes form the basic foundation upon which tenants and landlords may build a good relationship with improved communication.
The Social Housing Charter aims to
•    Help tenants to understand what to expect from their landlords
•    Let landlords know what tenants can expect from them
•    Allow for the Social Housing Regulator to monitor and report on Registered Social Landlords

How they achieve this can be influenced by your views - why not answer our short questionnaire.

This consultation briefing covers those points which we feel are pertinent to the area of disability and access. However, we recommend that you read the full consultation on the Scottish Social Housing Charter.
