28/1/05 - Year of the Volunteer

The Government has designated 2005 as the Year of the Volunteer.

The main objectives are:

�         To create awareness and interest amongst the public about volunteering

�         To encourage more people to find out about volunteering and to get involved

�         To specifically encourage young people, and people with disabilities to get involved

There will be themed months; for instance, May is the environment month and August is dedicated to sport.

Later this year Project Scotland will be launched which will give young Scots a unique opportunity to contribute to their community, while learning new skills.
