Aberdeen City council are
withdrawing their support for the Dial a Bus
Service from November making a saving of
30,000 this financial year.
The council have been
accused of penny-pinching by opposition
councillors, but the SNP-Lib Dem
administration have described Dial a Bus as
a “major expense”.
The decision was made
despite consultation with Shopmobility
Aberdeen, the Disability Advisory Group, the
Grampian Society for the Blind and Aberdeen
Action on Disability, who all backed the
scheme.
This is another blow to
people with disabilities in Aberdeen -
Choices Day Centre for disabled people was
closed a few weeks ago as part of the
Council’s drive to cut 50million from their
budget.
