Disabled students waiting for grants for specialist equipment - BBC news

4 February 2010

Figures from the Student Loans Company have shown that almost 12,500 students in England are still waiting for grants to pay for specialist equipment.

This means that two thirds of students with a disability or special needs are still waiting for money.

The SLC has been criticised for its mismanagement of regular student loans.  It says it is looking at its processes.

At the start of the academic year there were tens of thousands of students without their full loan and grant entitlement after problems with the processing of applications.
