Volunteering and Disability Research Launched


The research report ‘Volunteering and Disability: Experiences and perceptions of volunteering from disabled people and organisations’ was launched by Volunteer Development Scotland on the 21st September in Edinburgh.

 
The research utilised a variety of research methods including questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, and engaged with organisations and individuals throughout Scotland. Findings indicate that although disabled people volunteer, both individuals and organisations feel that they are under-represented in volunteering and that the Internet, a commonly used recruitment method for volunteers, is still not as accessible as it could be for disabled people.

The project was funded by Clydesdale Bank and the launch timed to coincide with 'accessible volunteering' month in the Year of the Volunteer.
