Whizz-Kidz

Like all children, disabled children need to move around independently and enjoy freedom to enable them to live full and active lives with their families and friends.

The NHS is often unable to provide the mobility equipment, training and advice that they need. Looking after a disabled child can increase the emotional and physical strain on families. Having to spend time and effort to obtain mobility equipment and support services is an additional stress that they really don't need.

Whizz-Kidz provides customised wheelchairs, tricycles and other specialised mobility equipment, wheelchair training, information and advice to change the lives of disabled children across the UK. It also works to raise awareness of the need of these children so that they get the support they deserve from the general public and from the Government.

Barnardo's and Whizz-Kidz teamed up to produce a  - Don't Push Me Around! - that looks at the state of wheelchair provision to young people.

Wheelchairs for Children
Some thoughts from parents

"Wheelchairs for Children - Some thoughts for parents" is a booklet written by parents for parents.  It is hoped that it might give other parents a better understanding when it comes to making choices for their children, helping to avoid some of the misunderstandings that they have experienced and the mistakes they have made. It has been produced not just to provide information but also to share some experiences that parents have had.

The booklet has been supported and financed by the Scottish Executive and is available from:
