28/10/05 - Disabled Children's care service expansion Gaps in child-care facilities for families with disabled children in Aberdeen are being filled as a result of two new projects, launched this week. Disabled children whose parents are working will be able to attend mainstream childcare through Capability Scotland's Childcare 4 All scheme, while One Parent Families Scotland's Childcare @ Home project is set to provide families with evening and weekend support. Speaking before the joint launch of the two
services Mike Rumbles MSP said: "I am delighted to be involved with the
launch of these two childcare services. I know from Capability
Scotland's own research that parents of a disabled child are often unable to
work because of suitable and affordable childcare is unavailable.
This scheme will do a great deal to redress this situation and ensure that
parents who want to work can do so safe in the knowledge that their children
are receiving appropriate care."
