Media Guide is here to help voluntary organisations in Scotland work more
successfully with the media- be it TV, newspapers, or radio. We live in a world which is experiencing an information overload. Its vital for voluntary organisations to make their information stand out from the crowd , to get it used by the media and for their key messages to be heard or seen by as wide an audience as possible. Media Guide is packed with helpful time saving tips, hints and information to help organisations make a start in this work or to get better at what they already do. The media is an important way of helping people to understand the benefits that volunteering and membership offer. It can create enthusiasm for the wide range of volunteering opportunities and encourage more people to take part. Sometimes people are put off volunteering. They may feel that they don’t have time. They may associate volunteering with a different age group or section of the community to their own. Or they may simply not be aware of the very wide range of opportunities that exist. www.mediaguide.org.uk is for anyone working in the voluntary sector to use. Access the media guide for practical information on improving your publicity and check out the News and Events section to find out the latest additions to the site or where you can find some appropriate training. The website, CD and booklet has been made possible with funding from the Scottish Executive Voluntary Issues Unit to support volunteering. It has been produced by CSV Media; Media Trust Scotland; Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations; Scottish Museums Council; Volunteer Development Scotland and Young Scot.
