The Coalfields Regeneration Trust was established in 1999 to improve the quality of life for people in Britain's current and former coalfield communities. Funding is available to local groups and organisations through three grant making programmes. The include a small grants programme of £500 - £10,000 for projects that can be completed within a twelve month period; grants for up to £3000,000 for capital and revenue projects over a three year period; and a Strategic Interventions / Special Projects fund that will help the Trust to work proactively with partners at a local level.
