Disabled People and Carers
http://www.dwp.gov.uk/lifeevent/discare/index.asp
The Disability and Carers Directorate (DCD) supports disabled people and
their carers, whether or not they are able to work. The directorate is
responsible for providing an efficient, reliable and considerate system of
Disability Benefits, and for all disability civil rights issues.
Working Age
Access to Work
is available to help overcome the problems
resulting from disability. It offers practical advice and help in a flexible
way that can be tailored to suit the needs of an individual in a particular
job. Access to Work does not replace the normal responsibilities of the employer to
implement Health and Safety regulations or replace the responsibilities
required by the Disability Discrimination Act.
Disabled Person's Tax Credit is available for people who have an illness
or disability that puts them at a disadvantage in getting a job.
Disability Living Allowance
http://www.dwp.gov.uk/lifeevent/benefits/disability_liv_allowance.asp
Available for persons aged 16 or over who need help looking after
themselves, or for children aged 3 or over and have severe difficulty
walking, or aged 5 and need help getting around.
